I don't know if it's still available, but there is a Sp. Edition of SITR, it's two-disc, and they even have a cut scene of "All I Do is Dream of You" that takes place after the premiere party at the beginning. It's a lot slower and it's just Gene Kelly singing it, in his room all alone and gah I love it. Um anyway. There's other awesome stuff on it but I sort of forget, I'll have to go watch it because I really haven't in a while.
I don't know if you know this or not, because it's sort-of known, but Gene Kelly did the rain scene with a 103 degree fever. Also, I don't know if this is true or I just heard it wrong, but Jean Hagen (Lena) actually did the singing for her chracter? Or. augh, I don't want to pass along false information. Again, I'll have to watch the Sp. Edition again. *zips lips*
And this isn't like, random factoid, but I just find it so...funny, I guess, that Gene Kelly and Donald O'Connor are 10 years apart and yet their characters are (I'm assuming) the same age, and I know Debbie Reynolds was only 20/21, and her character is (again, I'm assuming) a few years younger than theirs.
OH, and FYI, every Monday night this month, TCM is doing marathons of Gene Kelly movies. They already did SITR and his other musicals this past Monday; All 3 of the ones with Sinatra, which are my personal faves, but I don't think they've done Brigadoon yet, and Cyd Charisse is the female lead in that (she's the flapper in the dance scene in SITR). It's a bit cracked-out but still funtimes. ^_^
