"Friends aren't supposed to ignore you," Peter announces to the room at large, which currently is only Remus.

Remus looks up, blinking. "No, they aren't. I'm sorry, am I ignoring you?"

"No, you never ignore me." Peter smiles slightly and pauses. "Friends aren't meant to use you, either. Or demean you," he continues after a moment.

Concerned, Remus sets his book aside. "Have I done either? I'm really sorry I'm a poor friend, I--"

"No, no. James does it. And Sirius. To both of us. I think maybe you're my only real friend."

Remus smiles sadly. "Maybe you're mine, too."
