[icons] [42 third act twists]
Oct. 23rd, 2009 08:34 amLast night
euclase shared a link to this comic and I totally fell in love with it. At first I was just going to share it in my next clickies post but when I started trying to do other things I discovered that I needed to make icons of this cartoon. I figured if I was going to do about half of them anyway, why not just do all of them? So that's what I did.
( because who hasn't run into a situation where they thought 'i could really use an `unintentional incest` icon right now!'? )
Crediting me is nice but not really necessary. Crediting dresdencodak.com is not optional. DO IT.

More Aretha-hat!icons here. And the link will be in my daily tweets again later. XD

Jan. 28th, 2008 05:26 amI would've put this stuff in with my last post, but I wanted to keep that stuff to my flist and I want this unlocked. So I spam j00. I'm sure you're getting used to it. It's been months since I've gone a day without posting... ANYWAY! On with the clickies and other interesting stuff.
First, I share with you some morbid info, because I find it absolutely fascinating:
- dying words of famous people
- history of executions in America before lethal injection
- final meal requests (from the Texas Dept. of Criminal Justice)
- on-stage deaths
- on human decomp (PICTURES. No, seriously. Pictures. Real ones. You've been warned.)
And now a couple of really neat optical illusions, courtesy of
useless_facts:
( If your eyes follow the movement of the rotating pink dot, the dots will remain pink. However if you stare at the + in the center, the moving dot turns to green. If you continue focusing on the center, the pink dots will disappear and you will see one green dot moving. Makes you think about 'seeing is believing,' doesn't it? )
( This one actually BOTHERS me! )

Dec. 28th, 2007 10:44 pmBecause ducks have been mentioned on my flist no fewer than four times today:
- Waterfowl wage genital warfare: 'Arms race' has resulted in longer phalluses, more elaborate vaginas. (Be warned: There are, in fact, pictures of duck genitalia if you follow that link.)
- Here, have some cuter ducks now.
- And a swanduck, too, because it's pretty.
And because I find everything's sex life fascinating:
- Gay animals out of the closet?: First-ever museum display shows 51 species exhibiting homosexuality.

The rules are easy, just post 10 things that recently made you happy! Then tag 10 people and force them to post this meme on their LJs. Because it is good. Everyone needs a little happiness once in a while.
eryslash did this meme and didn't tag anybody but I think it's a good meme so I'm doing it and I think everybody should, too. Even if you really can't come up with ten, share as many as you can. I know even when I'm having a rotten time of things, it makes me smile a little to hear of other people's happy moments, because then at least I know the entire world isn't completely shit. So ... share, people, share!
Ten Things That Have Recently Made Me Happy:
01.) Pushing Daisies.
02.) SuDocWho. Srsly. XD
03.) My new microcassette recorder.
04.)
elicia8's recent non-fandom art.
05.) The Euphemism Generator.
06.) From here: "A penis was not meant to go into a man's butt, but rather a womens."
07.) Keeping Mum.
08.) I made people laugh. Sure, it was at a dead guy's expense, but...
09.) Celebrity photo galleries.
10.) Wilson's Ties Database.
Bonus:
11.) HEROES. NATHAN SHAVED THAT UGLY FUCKING BEARD OFF. PRAISE EVERY DEITY EVER.

A 50-ton bowhead whale caught off the Alaskan coast last month had a weapon fragment embedded in its neck that showed it survived a similar hunt - more than a century ago. HOW COOL IS THAT?!

Thanks for all the condolences and prayers and such about my dog. I'm not responding to the comments individually but I'm certainly reading them and they are much appreciated. Now, on to the links.

Well, all of us knew it, but a study reveals that there truly is a fine line between creativity and insanity.
•••••••••••••••
I think I've shown this to most of the people on my flist who would appreciate it, but just in case I missed anybody:
deadphotos is "a MODERATED artistic community for posting photos of things that are dead." All gore is placed under cuts, so you're unlikely to be traumatized. Some of the photos are really beautiful (I encourage everyone to look at this one; there is no body) and all of them are at least interesting. A couple of them are even pretty funny, as a matter of fact.

• Which Fictional Place Would You Most Like To Visit?

It's a list of 25 things that I've picked (like drunk!Wilson and teenage!Wilson and handyman!Wilson). People get to choose one and give me an additional prompt and (eventually) they will get a fic written for them. Go and request away!

Apr. 21st, 2007 12:25 amI don't have many links to share this time but I felt like it was time for one of these anyway. Tomorrow (or ... "later" by my clock) I should have a music post for you. It should've been done tonight but when I went to upload the last song, MediaFire stopped working. OOPS. Anyway...
•••••••••••••••
First, let's get TEH SERIOUS out of the way. In light of the Virginia Tech shootings, Stephen King shares his thoughts on predicting violence. For those of you who don't care to click the link, here is the part that really made me want to stand up and say AMEN, because it's essentially what I was saying in my post the other day, only Stephen King is better with words than me:
"For most creative people, the imagination serves as an excretory channel for violence: We visualize what we will never actually do (James Patterson, for instance, a nice man who has all too often worked the street that my old friend George used to work). Cho doesn't strike me as in the least creative, however. Dude was crazy. Dude was, in the memorable phrasing of Nikki Giovanni, ''just mean.'' Essentially there's no story here, except for a paranoid a--hole who went DEFCON-1. He may have been inspired by Columbine, but only because he was too dim to think up such a scenario on his own."
•••••••••••••••
AskMen.com presents us with a top ten list of Dangerous Festivals. This includes a baby-jumping festival in Spain. I saw pictures of this. It's not just a guy hopping over one baby at a time. No. This is a full-grown man, in a freaky costume, taking a flying leap over MANY MANY babies. Oh, god, I can just imagine the guy tripping at the last second and crushing them all. D:
•••••••••••••••
No link to go with it, but I just have to say: LULZ, Sanjaya is finally gone. Yay. Now if I have American Idol on for background noise while I'm waiting for House to come on, I'm less likely to want to harm small creatures. :D
•••••••••••••••
German Army Drafts 4-Week-Old Baby. No, really. It was an accident and it was fixed, but... XD

Escaping Rabbits Block Hungarian Highway. I'm just disappointed at the lack of photos. I want to see thousands of bunnies in the road, "just sitting around, eating grass and enjoying the sun."

moonslash_cc got a cool address book which contains the summaries from the back covers of gay pulp novels. She's posted all of the blurbs, which you can read by following that link. The challenge sounds fun and easy as pie: comment to sign up, and then use any prompt as strictly or as loosely as you wish to write/art/vid about any gay pairing in any fandom or crossover. Post the results on May 23rd. Even if you don't want to join in the challenge, some of the summaries are much with the LULZ and should be read anyway. :D

- What are some of your favorite words, and why?
- When choosing a book to read, what makes you want to read it; the plot or the cover?
- Stewart or Colbert? Or neither?
- If you read a book that, after reading more than half of it, turns out to be boring and uninteresting, do you continue to read it anyway?
